The "USS McGowan (DD678) Reunion Association" is open
to any and all that ever served aboard during the period from 1943 through December 1st, 1960. All officers and enlisted men are invited to join in. The primary purpose of this organization is to plan and organize reunions for the members and their significant others, to assist the members in locating other shipmates and provide information from the V.A. and other sources.

A Little McGowan History
The USS McGowan was launched in November, 1943 and commissioned  December 20, 1943 with Commander James B. Weller in command. After WII she was decommissioned in 1946 then recommissioned in 1951. The McGowan remained in service until December 1, 1960 when she was transferred to Spain and became know as SPS Jorge Juan - D 25. She was stricken from the Spanish Navy list on 15 November 1988, then scrapped.
